NEW CAMPER BREAKFAST All first-time campers are invited to the free New Camper Breakfast on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM in the main picnic table area. If you already signed up for breakfast that morning through the Redwood Glen meal service, and you would like instead to attend the New Camper Breakfast, please contact Bob Stoddard at bob.stoddard@aeroflex.com or 408-499-5069 by August 19 to adjust your meal plan and secure a reimbursement for that meal.
LODGING For those staying in the Siden Center, each room has 2 double beds and a private bathroom; towels and soap are provided. We ask that you please limit showers to 3 minutes or less. For those staying in a Cabin or Lodge, there are usually several bunk beds in your room and a bathroom you will likely share with another family or families. Please also limit your showers to 3 minutes or less. For those who are Tent Camping, please be aware that most of the sites are very close together, and there is no picnic table or fire pit at your campsite, so you will want to bring along seating and perhaps a portable table. There are many tables in the main camp BBQ area that are available for general use except during evening meals on Saturday and Sunday when they are reserved for those who have purchased a BBQ meal through Redwood Glen. Wherever you are staying, it is nice to bring chairs and some munchies, as lots of folks like to walk around and visit during the afternoons.
CAMPFIRE Friday and Saturday evenings just after dinner there is a campfire with storytelling for the children followed by a marshmallow roast. Please bring fixings for smores and a roasting stick, but if you forget, come anyway, as there is always plenty to share.
AMPHITHEATER SEATING Everyone gathers each morning and evening in the outdoor amphitheater for singing and announcements. The amphitheater is also the venue for the talks given each morning by our guest speaker, as well as for the Sunday evening Talent Show (see below). The amphitheater has wooden benches with backs; many folks like to bring along stadium seats or cushions to sit on. Just in front of the stage, there is an open area covered with tarps (affectionately known as the mosh pit ) for children to sit on the ground.
DRESSING FOR THE WEATHER Please bear in mind that the temperature varies widely throughout the day. Mornings and evenings are cold, while middays can be quite hot. Please be sure to bring sufficient warm clothing; every year there are families who underestimate the need for warm clothing – dont be one of them! In particular, you will want to bundle up for the Talent Show on Sunday evening, as sitting still after dark can get quite chilly.
TALENT SHOW The Talent Show on Sunday evening is your chance to strut your stuff! Talent is a very loose term in this show; we have had folks sing, recite poetry, perform a skit, play an instrument, dance, tell a joke, or burp the alphabet be creative! In order for everyone to have a chance to participate and have all of us still get to bed at a decent hour, each act must be no longer than 3 minutes in length, and each camper is allowed to participate in only 1 act no exceptions! Bring a stadium seat or cushion and extra clothing and even a blanket it gets chilly after dark!
